History Of GlamourGals
The loss of her grandmother in 1999 spurred Rachel Doyle to create GlamourGals, sparking intergenerational connections through meaningful embrace and conversation. Seeing the need to address senior isolation, Rachel and her peers in Commack, NY held the first GG makeover, giving complimentary beauty makeovers to seniors living in a local residential care facility. 25 years later, GG has become a national movement, which today supports over 2,000 teen volunteers.
What makes GG unique has been the manner in which it fosters confident and compassionate teen leaders through its model. The GlamourGals National team provides a comprehensive leadership development training and mentorship that supports the teen volunteers. GG National provides training in the form of events, phone calls and email to help volunteers develop leadership skills as they give back to their community.
There are now over 125 GlamourGals chapters nationwide. We hope to continue to spread the #GGmovment and grow even more in the years to come!
