My Dear Friend
Want to do something awesome that will brighten someone's day? Consider taking part in the My Dear Friend initiative! It's all about sending some love to seniors in residential care by writing them heartfelt cards.
We're all about spreading the cheer, especially during the winter holidays and Valentine's Day (because who doesn't need a little extra love then?), but you can totally send cards anytime of the year. A little kindness goes a long way, and there's never a bad time to make someone feel special.
You can hold meetings as a Chapter to get together and make cards! Keep reading for all the deets you need to know.
Here's the scoop on how to become a My Dear Friend card writing superstar:
Get Crafty: Grab some paper, pens, markers, crayons, stickers... whatever you've got (and don’t forget to request supplies via the special packages request Nov 1 - Dec 10 or use the Chapter Creativity Fund). Get creative and make the card look awesome. Even a simple design can make a big impact.
The Magic Words: Start your card with "My Dear Friend." It's super warm and friendly, and it makes the card feel extra special - plus, it allows the card to go to anyone who needs a little extra love.
Share the Good Vibes: Write a short and sweet message. Think about what would make you smile if you got a card.
Here’s an example: “Sending you a hug in a letter to brighten your day. You are so loved!”Sign It & Shine: Sign ONLY your first name AND your state. It's cool for them to know who sent the card and where it came from.
GlamourGals Plug: On the back of the card, write "GlamourGals.org." This helps spread the word about our amazing group and what we do.
Two Ways to Spread the Love:
You can take your cards to your local senior home and see the seniors' faces light up when they get your handmade creations! There's nothing like seeing the joy firsthand.
Or, during the holiday season, you can log your cards right on the GlamourGals website! We'll then send you an address for a senior home for you to mail your cards to that can be anywhere across the country, even in places that might not have a local GlamourGals chapter. This is a great way to make a HUGE impact!
Don't Forget to Log Your Good Deeds!
After you've created your amazing cards, you have to log them on GG Chapters in your service reports under the “Kind Notes Written” section. This helps us keep track of all the smiles we're creating together and show everyone how awesome GlamourGals is!
So, are you ready to spread some happiness? Get your Chapter together, grab your supplies and get ready to make a senior's day!
